Media Award

2003 Book/Multimedia award winner is Julie M. Fenster who received the award for her book, Ether Day.  

 The Anesthesia Foundation announces the Book/Multimedia Education Award to be presented 2008 at the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting.  

This prestigious award will be awarded for excellence and innovation in books or multimedia with significant impact on the science and practice of anesthesiology, critical care, or pain medicine.  No more than two-author submissions are eligible.

 The award is $10,000 (to be divided if there are two authors), plus expenses for first author and guest to attend the Academy of Anesthesiology 2009 Spring meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida.

 Deadline for receipt of contributions is November 15, 2007.

Criteria for new types of computer-based information resources such as multimedia CD-ROMs and internet programs.  A committee will select the winning entry based upon eligibility and characteristics including, but not limited to:
bulletSubmission must be authored in English.
bulletMust be a first edition.
bulletMay not have different authors for each segment or chapter.
bulletFactors evaluated:  timeliness, timlessness, originality, teaching value, sophistication, literary style, graphics, scientific excellence, succinctness, impact, permanent value, format and references.
bulletMultimedia factors evaluated include:   quality of multimedia, accessibility of the program, user friendliness of the program, planned cost, distribution method and upgrade schedule.
bulletA monograph or book may not have more than two authors and the senior author must be an anesthesiologist.
bulletA monograph or book may not be symposia or a report of a meeting.
